What the free plan includes
Every organization gets 500 free checks a month for each of four features - ID verification, passive liveness, face match 1:1, and device and IP analysis - four separate allowances, not a shared pool.
500 free checks a month, per feature - four separate allowances, one each for ID verification, passive liveness, face match 1:1, and device and IP analysis. They are not a shared pool of 500. No card, no contract, no minimum. Any module outside those four is billed from prepaid credits from the very first check, which is the usual reason a "free" workflow asks for a balance.
Every Didit organization gets a free monthly tier: 500 free checks per month, for each of four core features. Beyond that you pay only for what you use, with no contract and no minimum spend.
#The four free features, each with its own allowance
| Feature | Free every month | Price once its 500 are used |
|---|---|---|
| ID verification | 500 | $0.15 per check |
| Passive liveness | 500 | $0.10 per check |
| Face match 1:1 | 500 | $0.05 per check |
| Device and IP analysis | 500 | $0.03 per check |
#Per feature, not per session - what that means
This is worth being precise about, because it is more generous than it first sounds.

- Each feature is metered separately, so each has its own monthly allowance.
- What a check costs once that feature's own 500 are used.
- Zero until a feature passes its own allowance, not the sum of all of them.
A workflow running ID verification + passive liveness + face match uses:
- one check from the ID verification allowance,
- one check from the passive liveness allowance,
- one check from the face match allowance.
It does not take three checks out of a single pool of 500. Each allowance is counted independently, so that workflow can run 500 times in a month before any of the three begins to cost anything.
Put another way: 500 free runs of a four-check flow is 2,000 free checks in total, because every feature is counted on its own. When one feature's 500 are used up, only that feature starts billing - the others keep drawing on the free checks they have left.
If all four features run and all four allowances are exhausted, a full KYC check costs $0.33 - the sum of $0.15 + $0.10 + $0.05 + $0.03.
#What's included
- Full access to the self-serve console: build workflows, generate verification links, invite teammates, and review sessions.
- 500 free checks a month for each of the four features above, when they run inside a workflow.
- Everything beyond the free tier is pay-as-you-go at the per-feature rates - see how pricing and credits work.
The allowances are per organization, reset monthly, and unused free checks don't roll over.
#What's not covered by the free tier
This is the single most common surprise, so it's worth being equally precise: the free allowances cover those four features only. Every other module is billed from prepaid credits the first time it runs, no matter how little volume you're doing:
| Not in the free tier | Price when completed |
|---|---|
| AML screening | $0.20 |
| Ongoing AML monitoring | $0.07 / year |
| Active liveness | $0.15 |
| NFC chip reading | $0.15 |
| Biometric authentication | $0.10 |
| Age estimation | $0.10 |
| Proof of address | $0.20 |
| Questionnaire | $0.10 |
| Phone verification | from $0.03 + carrier fee |
| Email verification | $0.03 |
| White label / custom branding | $0.20 |
| Database validation | Varies by country |
| Business verification (KYB) | $2.00 |
If you're seeing a "not enough credits" error on what you believed was a free workflow, it is almost always because the workflow includes one of the modules above - not because you've used up 500 checks. White label is the most common culprit: enabling custom branding adds $0.20 per completed verification on top of the checks themselves. See fixing a "not enough credits" error.
Two more that catch people out:
- Active liveness is not passive liveness. Switching a workflow from passive to active takes that step out of the free tier, at $0.15 per check.
- Age estimation is not ID verification. It has its own $0.10 price and no free allowance.
#Workflows, not standalone API calls
The free allowances apply to checks run through workflows. Standalone API calls made directly to a feature endpoint, outside a workflow, are billed per call and do not draw on any free allowance - even for the four features above.
#Testing doesn't have to cost anything
If you're integrating and want to run flows end to end without touching your balance at all, use a sandbox application: every provider is mocked, nothing is billed, and you can force any outcome you want. See testing in sandbox without spending credits.
The free tier is genuinely free - there's no hidden condition, trial period, card requirement, or minimum monthly spend behind it. Once your organization needs a paid module, you top up your balance with prepaid USD credits, which never expire.
#Free plan vs. enterprise
The free plan gives you the full self-serve platform. If you need higher volumes, custom terms, in-country data residency, or dedicated support, an enterprise plan adds those on top - see top-ups, invoices and payment methods for how to move from free to paid usage, or book a demo to talk through custom pricing.
